Anytime a couple asks me where to take their engagement photos, I have the same response.

“It’s up to you. Pick somewhere meaningful…somewhere you love…somewhere that means something to you.”

As a seasoned photographer, I can find great light just about everywhere, and everywhere has gorgeous spots to shoot in, some of which you’d never expect. Those are my favorite. There’s hidden beauty in the spots that most overlook. An alley. A parking garage. An open field. They can all be so beautiful. And when you add the sentiment of a personal connection to the location, it brings engagement photos to a whole new level.

For Justine & Nick, picking somewhere meaningful for their engagement session meant Downtown Denver.

You see, they not only met once in Denver, but they met twice. Two complete chance meetings while out with friends, and the second time was the charm. Nick was a bit embarrassed when he asked for Justine’s number only to find that he had already been given it, but it made for a good laugh. And the rest…well, the rest is history.

Justine & Nick’s engagement session took us to meaningful places all around the city. From The Ginn Mill where they met, to the alley behind Justine’s old apartment, we walked all around Denver and found hidden spots with amazing light and amazing meaning.

Just behind this ramp is a bridge where several photographers were shooting. Justine and Nick may have thought I was a little crazy for ignoring the picturesque bridge for a concrete parking garage ramp, but can you blame me? I love the texture, the light, and the coziness it gives this photo!

Just above this wall is Justine’s old apartment. Talk about the perfect spot!
